Best Practices for Online Security

At Los Angeles National Bank, we want to make sure you understand what you can do to keep your accounts and money safe. Here are some suggestions to protect your business from online fraud:

  • Use the newest versions of Web browsers and only those with built-in security features.
  • If it’s possible to do so, designate just one computer to complete your online banking and do not use the dedicated computer for any other web browsing or emailing activity.  Limiting exposure to the Internet will reduce the risk of infection.
  • If you are not able to access the designated computer, do not use public or other unsecured computers for logging into your business online banking account.
  • Ensure that your virus and spyware protection programs are installed and running and schedule frequent updates and scans to ensure that they remain current.
  • Create a “strong” password with at least 8 characters that includes a combination of mixed case letters, numbers, and special characters.
  • Do not share your password with anyone.
  • Keep your password safe.  Do not leave your password in a file on your computer, on a sticky note on your monitor, or any other similarly “convenient,” but unsafe location.
  • Change your password frequently.
  • Avoid using an automatic login feature that saves usernames and passwords.
  • Los Angeles National Bank personnel will never call or email you to ask for your login or password, do not provide this information if it is requested.
  • Segregate duties so that transactions are drafted by one user and approved by another.
  • Set up individual employee limits that allow them to perform their daily functions, yet limit the risk imposed by mistakes or fraud.
  • Monitor your account activity frequently, checking your account activity often and daily will allow you to quickly detect any fraudulent activity.
  • Users should check the last login date/time every time they log in, which enables users to promptly detect any unauthorized access.
  • Contact us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access to your EZ Online Banking account.
